Personality Disorders are a group of mental health conditions in which a person has a long pattern of behaviors, emotions and thoughts which is very different to the expectations of their culture. These behaviors interfere with the person’s ability to function in affiliations, work and other settings.

The cause of antisocial personality disorder is unknown, but is believed to be genetic in nature, as well as depends on environmental factors, such as child abuse. People with an antisocial or alcoholic parent are at greater risk of developing this disorder. Men are much more affected than women with this disorder. Moreover, this condition is quite common in prisoners.

Persons with this disorder are often cold, distant, and unable to get close with anyone, in other words have got trouble forming interpersonal relationships. People with such personality disorder stay suspicious of their environs, generally, cannot see their own role in conflicting situations and often project their feelings of paranoia as anger onto others.

Histrionic Personality Disorder

Persons with this disorder are overly conscious of their appearance, constantly seeking attention, and often behave dramatically in situations that do not warrant this type of reaction. People with histrionic personality disorder usually express their behaviour in a superficial and exaggerated way.

Dependent Personality Disorder

Persons with this disorder rely heavily on others for validation and to satisfy their basic needs. Besides not being able to care for themselves properly, people with dependent personality disorder lack confidence, security and have difficulty in making decisions.
